وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:

وَأَكْفِئُوا الْإِنَاءَ ، أَوْ خَمِّرُوا الْإِنَاءَ

It is recommended to cover vessels, tie up waterskins, close doors and mention the name of Allah over them, extinguish lamps and fires when going to sleep, and keep children and animals in after maghrib
This hadith is reported on the authority of Jabir but with a slight change of wording, and he did not mention the words:" Putting a stick across the vessel."
