وَحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، وَأَبِي الضُّحَى، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ الْعَبْسِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:

Encouragement to give charity even if it is with half a date or a kind word. And charity is a shield against the fire.
Jarir b. 'Abdullah reported: People came to to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and they ware dressed in woollen clothes. He (the Holy Prophet) saw their dismal state, as they were suffering from want and the rest of the hadith is the same.
