وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ بِهَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ فِي طَعَامِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. وَقَالَ فِيهِ:

فَقَامَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ عَلَى الْبَابِ حَتَّى أَتَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، إِنَّمَا كَانَ شَيْءٌ يَسِيرٌ! قَالَ: هَلُمَّهُ ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ سَيَجْعَلُ فِيهِ الْبَرَكَةَ

It is permissible to take someone else to the house of one who you are certain will approve of that and will not mind. It is recommended to gather to eat
Anas b. Malik reported this incident pertaining to the feast given by Abu Talha to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) with the addition of these words:" Abu Talha stood at the door (to welcome the honourable guest) until Allah's Messenger (may peacec be upon him) came there, He (Abu Talha) said to him: Allah's Messenger, the thing (we intend to offer you as a meal) is small in quantity. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Bring that, for Allah will soon bless it (and increase it).
